Agartala, Tripura, 11th of December, 2024 : With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura has been conducted State-level Drama Festival 2024 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Wednesday (11th December, 2024).
In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education Government of Tripura inaugurated the 15-day State-level Drama Festival today. Two plays will be staged daily with the commencement at 6 pm and the next play is at 7:30 pm. Moreover, 3 dramas will be staged every day on the holidays. On the holidays, the shows will start from 5 pm.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Hon’ble Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy said, Drama is a mirror of society. Social awareness should be raised through drama. The script of the play should be timely. The new generation wants its various problems to be addressed through the play. He said that if social problems like child marriage, drug addiction, parents being forced to stay in old age homes even after having children are included in the script of the play, people will be more aware of these issues. It is not possible to get out of these social problems if there is no social movement even after the administrative system. Along with performing plays on stage, he also attached importance to street plays. He said that in the present time, we have to think about what people want and stage plays accordingly. Only then will it be possible to win the hearts of the audience. He wished the success of this drama festival.
Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Director of ICA B. B Bhattacharya said, 34 theater groups have participated in this 15-day Drama festival. The 15-day Drama festival will end on December 25. Last year, 21 groups participated in the theater festival. Two Drama will be staged from Monday to Friday at Hall No. 2 of Rabindra Bhaban. Three Drama will be staged on Saturday and Sunday. He said that more than 400 theater workers will stage plays in this year’s theater festival.
Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, senior prominent Theatre Personality Manik Datta and many others dignitaries were remained present in the event.
