SUSPECTED PERSON APPREHENDED WHILE CHEATING LOCAL PEOPLE IMPERSONATING HIMSELF AS BSF JAWAN.

On 26th June 2021 at about 1500 hrs, one person namely Uttam Chakma wearing white T/Shirt (having BSF logo) introduced himself as a Major in BSF, visited in the meat shop at Uttar Pabircherra, PS- Kumarghat (Unakoti) and ordered for 15 Kgs chicken meat with a request to the shopkeeper to give him Rs. 2000/-, which he will return back at the time of collection of meat along with cost of the chicken meat amounting to Rs. 3,450/-. He also provided his mobile phone number 9362675219. In good faith, shopkeeper gave Rs. 2,000/- cash to Uttam Chakma. Thereafter, the said person neither returned back nor paid the borrowed amount as well as cost of 15 Kgs chicken meat. In this regard, on the written report by the shopkeeper, Kumarghat Police Station has lodged an FIR No. 0049/21, dated 08 July 2021 u/s 419 & 420 of IPC Act 1860 and investigating the matter.

On 07th July 2021(Evening), BSF party spotted the above suspected person in BSF T/Shirt loitering in Kumarghat Market and during preliminary questioning, he revealed his identity as Uttam Chakma S/o Dharmbijoy Chakma R/o Yogender Carabari Para, PO- Laljuri, Disti- North Tripura. He was also having some photographs in BSF Uniform in his mobile. He was handed over to the local Police for necessary legal action as he was found to be suspiciously moving wearing unauthorized uniform with a view to impersonate and cheat local people showing himself as a BSF Jawan. During further probe into the matter, the above mentioned cheating was revealed on which Police case has been registered and being investigated.

Moreover, it has been revealed that he was earlier arrested in the month of Oct 2019 by the Police Out Post Batala, Tripura West for deceiving, alluring the unemployed youths for extraction of money on the pretext of getting them enrolled in Armed Forces .Similarly, he was caught by GRP, Ambassa Railway Station while roaming around wearing BSF Uniform in the month of June 2021.

BSF Tripura has issued alert to all citizens to remain vigilant to such attempts by this person. Further, investigation into the matter is in progress.
