Agartala, Tripura, 21st of December, 2024 : In a meticulously planned and flawlessly executed joint operation, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Customs Department and Tripura Police, has dealt a major blow to the drug trafficking nexus in the region. Acting on precise intelligence inputs from own sources , security forces intercepted and recovered an astonishing consignment of 3.9 lakh yaba tablets valued at approximately ₹78 crores in the international market.

In a press statement, Assam Rifle said that the operation unfolded near General Area Gandacharra, approximately 35 kilometers from Teliamura, at 6 pm on December 20, 2024. In a swift and decisive move, the team apprehended Rakesh Miya (33), son of Manik Miya from Melaghar, Sonamura, who was transporting the consignment.

This monumental success highlights the unwavering commitment of the security forces to counter the menace of cross-border drug trafficking and safeguard the youth of the region. Yaba tablets, infamous for their devastating effects on individuals and communities, are a known favorite of drug syndicates targeting vulnerable populations.
