Khowai, Tripura, 9th of September, 2024 : With the initiative of Khowai Municipal Council fish distribution was going on among the beneficiaries under the leadership of Ward No. 14 Councillor Shanku Pal at Ganki area under Khowai District. The Khowai Municipal Council authorities were directed to distribute fish equally to all the beneficiaries who have ponds. A beneficiary named Manik Sutradhar asked Councillor Shanku Pal why there were no fish despite having a pond there. When an argument started between the Councillor and the beneficiary, the councilor started beating the sick beneficiary Manik Sutradhar.
As a result of this beating, Manik Sutradhar fell on the ground bleeding. His head was smashed and a leg was severely injured. After the incident, the people of the area got excited and gave good means to Councillor Shanku Pal, he ran away and took refuge in the office of Khowai Municipal office.
Meanwhile, after this incident, when Manik Sutradhar was brought to Khowai District Hospital in a bloody state, the doctors arranged to send him to GB Hospital. Manik Sutradhar is the secretary of the Khowai Cricket Association and he is also a former labour leader. After this incident, BJP leaders rushed to the hospital to see the injured Manik Sutradhar.
There are many allegations of widespread corruption and illegal activities against this Sanku Pal in the Khowai Municipal area. Although the people of the area are very dissatisfied with this Councillor, the high-ranking leaders of the ruling party are not taking any necessary measures against such leaders.
