New Delhi, Delhi, 9th of April 2025 : S8UL Esports has emerged victorious in the 2025 Pokémon UNITE World Championship Series (WCS) India Qualifiers, organized by The Pokémon Company and Skyesports. With this win, they have secured their spot at the 2025 World Championship, which will take place in the USA later this year.

This marks the third consecutive year that S8UL Esports will represent India at the global stage, following their qualifications in 2023 and 2024. While the team was eliminated in the group stage in 2023 and faced visa issues in 2024 that prevented them from competing, they are now set for a strong comeback in WCS 2025. The World Championship will feature 16 teams from around the world battling for a share of the $500,000 prize pool.

The result is especially significant for the S8UL Pokémon UNITE squad, offering redemption after a disappointing run in the Pokémon UNITE Asia Champions League (ACL) India League 2025 earlier this year, where they were eliminated early and failed to qualify for the ACL in Japan.

S8UL’s journey through the India Qualifier was anything but easy. They stumbled in their opening match, losing 2-0 to True Rippers Esports, and had to make a lower-bracket run to reach the Grand Finals. Along the way, they defeated Team Dynamis, ABZ, True Rippers Esports, and QML, to set up a grand final bout against Revenant XSpark.

Coming from the lower bracket, S8UL had to win two consecutive series in the grand finals to claim the championship. Rising to the challenge, they won the first series 2-0 and the second 2-1 in a thrilling finale, securing their slot at the World Championship in Anaheim and solidifying their position as one of India’s best Pokémon UNITE teams.

Commenting on the result, S8UL Esports’ Deep “Snowyy” Patel, said, “I think our team in particular, S8UL, is different compared to every other team in the scene. If you look at the last couple of years, from 2023 to 2025, we’ve been the only roster that has stayed the same — the same five players with the same roles, including the support staff. We’ve had our hiccups, we’ve doubted each other a bit, but we’ve stuck together. And I think that really says something. Teams are constantly breaking and rebuilding every off-season and on-season. That’s what sets us apart. The only thing I’d say we really want to improve on is making a mark on the global stage. This time we actually want to put India’s flag on the map.”

Commenting on the result, Shiva Nandy, Founder and CEO, Skyesports, said, “Over the past three major Pokémon UNITE tournaments in India — the ACL India League, the Winter Tournament, and now the WCS India Qualifier — three different teams have claimed victory. This highlights the competitive spirit and skill barrier that The Pokémon Company and Skyesports have cultivated in India over the past three years. The future looks bright for Pokémon UNITE in the country, and we wish the best of luck to S8UL as they head to the USA to compete on the world stage.”

Adding to the game’s growing prestige, Pokémon UNITE has been confirmed as a medal event at the 2026 Asian Games. Tournaments like the India Qualifier are playing a crucial role in training and preparing Indian players to represent the country internationally.

The Pokémon UNITE World Championship 2025 will be held from August 15 to 17 in Anaheim, USA.
