Today on 26th July, 2022 on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas under the able guidance of Ravideep Singh Sahi, IGP, CRPF Tripura Sector and initiative taken by Commandant-124 BN, CRPF Mukesh Tyagi the naming of Road on CRPF Martyrs Saheed CT/GD- Shantanu Sarkar of 81 BN, CRPF has been organized “On 9th September – 2004, troops of 81 BN, CRPF were moving in two vehicles to the convoy ground for dropping of its personnel proceeding on leave. As the vehicle were plying in the area under P/S- Doda, Distt – Doda (J&K), the militants blasted an IED and opened indiscriminate fire at the troops. One of the vehicles came under the direct impact of the blast and its occupants received serious injuries, despite sustaining injuries, the troops held to their weapons and retaliated to the fire retaliation of the troops Defeated by the bold the militants aborted their plan of looting the weapons of injured personnel and fled away from the area. Three brave troopers namely Saheed CT/GD – Rupesh kumar Singh, Saheed CT/GD- Shantanu Sarkar and Saheed CT/GDO Pawan Kumar sacrificed their lives for the nation. To recollect the immense sacrifice of CT/GD Shantanu Sarkar the country men felt glory. To make him immortal a road has been named in his recollection.
The function was inaugurated by Ravideep Singh Sahi, IGP CRPF Tripura Sector in the presence of Mukesh Tyagi, Commandant-124 BN, Goutam Ghosh, SDO Bhamutia, Dibyandu Das, BDO Bhamutia, Parmita Pandey SDPO NCC and Virender Sarkar (Father) and Sabita Sarkar (Mother) of Saheed CT/GD- Shantanu Sarkar as well as large numbers of local people and officers and personnel of 124 BN, CRPF and other guests were also present. Wreath laying ceremony had also been done.
