Four signatory organizations of Quadrilateral Agreement signed at New Delhi on 16th January, 2020 like Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples’ Forum (MBDPF), Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples’ Coordination Committee (MBDPCC), Bru Tribal Development Society (BTDS) and Bru Displaced Welfare Organisation (BDWO) jointly address a Press Conference at Agartala Press Club on Friday 30th July, 2021.
The main purpose of organizing this Press Meet is to highlight about the ongoing process of resettlement which is being carried out by the Government of Tripura and also to make clarification on the issue of recent conflict between the Bru and Chorai communities which has been taken place at Kaskaopara Bru resettlement location under Damcherra RD block, Tripura North.
The resettlement of Bru Internally Displaced Person (IDP) have been carrying out at 4 locations in two districts of Dhalai and North Tripura out of 11 locations in three districts. Two locations like Kaskaopara and Khahamthaipara are under Panisagar Sub-Division and two locations are under Dhalai District of Haduklau Para and Bongophapara. The resettlement works both at Bongophapara and Haduklaupara are faster than that of Kaskaopara and Khahamthaipara because the works is being executed following the implementation system whereas the executing system under North Tripura District is on the basis of tendering. There locations which falls under Kanchanpur Sub-Division like Bikromjoy Para, Nondiram Para, Manu Chhailengta, Gachiram Para, Anandabazar and Bandarima are still remain untouched whereas SDM Kanchanpur had sent these locations to the higher authority for getting approval or diversion from Forest land to Kash land prior to the locations which is under Dhalai and Gomati Districts as well as under Panisagar Sub-Division.
In the meantime, a series of attacked have been perpetrated towards the innocent Bru IDPs at Kaskaopara relief camp by the Chorai community recently. 13th July,2021 at 8:00 PM) : A group of Chorai youths numbering around 25 to 30 led by Mr. Bumte Chorai under the banner of Young Chorai Association(YCA) and Tlangram Indigenous Peoples’ Movement(TIPM) came to Kaskaopara relief camp with 1 Bolero Pick Up and 2 Motor Cycle Bikes 8:00 PM and attacked 3 families of Bru IDPs and assaulted Mr. Binut Reang-28 yrs S/O Krishno Mohon and his wife Mrs. Zaioni (R/C No.-200/A), Mr. Drau Kumar Reang-25 yrs S/O Mr. A.
