ISKCON Celebrated Ratha Yatra Festival.

Agartala, 7th of July, 2024 : The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) celebrated the Ratha Yatra festival at Agartala on Sunday (7th July, 2024). The Ratha Yatra, also known as the Chariot Celebration of Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra, is the most prominent Hindu festival. On this auspicious occasion, in the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has inaugurated the Ratha Yatra festival.

Addressing the Ratha Yatra festival, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, Ratha Yatra festival is the coalescence among them of devotees and God. The Ratha Yatra festival reminds us that God is not only worshiped in the temple, He leaves the temple and comes down to the streets to the devotees. God gives stream to his devotees in the faith of man.

“Ratha Yatra festival is also mentioned in scriptures such as Brahmapurana, Padmapurana, Skandha Purana etc. The Ratha Yatra festival was celebrated during the reign of Maharaja Ram Singh of Jaipur during the Mughal period in the 18th century. Odisha kings Mayurbhanja and Parlekhamundi organized the Rathayatra In Puri, it has now become the world famous Puri Ratha Yatra festival”, the Chief Minister said.

On this auspicious occasion, the Chief Minister also added that In view of last year’s tragic incident in Kumarghat, earlier this year, all the District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police and concerned have been instructed to take necessary precautions through video conference. In this regard, the chariot height, power supply system, fire service and health department have been asked to be especially alert. The chief minister urged everyone to keep an eye on the joy so that sadness does not descend.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Labour Minister Tinku Roy, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Chairman of TIDC Nabadal Banik and many other dignitaries were present in the Ratha Yatra festival.
