With the initiative of jointly Tourism Department of Government of Tripura and Tourism Department of Central Government celebrated the International Museum Day, 2023 at Tripura State Museum (Ujjayanta Palace), Agartala on Thursday (18th May, 2023).
International Museum Day is celebrated every year on 18 May. This day is observed to highlight the importance of museums in any culture. Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.
In the occasion of International Museum Day 2023 celebration ceremony Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said, “History can be preserved in museums. Museums play an important role in introducing future generations to history. This museum has been designed with the aim that future generations can be informed about the traditional culture of the state”. The Tourism minister also added that the tourism department of the state has taken various initiatives to move Tripura forward on the tourism map. Swadesh Darshan-1 and Swadesh Darshan-2 projects will make the entire State attractive to tourists. The development of tourism is one of the goals of the present Government of the State.
Tapan Kumar Das, Director of the Tourism Department delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Uttam Kumar Chakma, Secretary of the Tourism Department also spoke on the occasion. Jayanta Debbarma, Joint Director of Tourism Department and many other dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.
