Agartala, Tripura, 8th of September, 2024 : With the initiative of Information and Cultural Affairs Department of the Government of Tripura organized Preparatory meeting on Goddess Durga Carnival (Maayer Gaman) at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala on Sunday (8th September, 2024). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presided over the meeting.
This year Goddess Durga Carnival (Maayer Gaman) ceremony will be held on October 14, 2024. This decision was taken in a preparatory meeting regarding Maayer Gaman and Sharad Samman-2024 at Muktadhara Auditorium today.
Addressing the at Goddess Durga Carnival (Maayer Gaman) meeting Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that maintaining the old tradition and this year the procession (Maayer Gaman) will started from in front of Ujjayanta Market which was unanimously accepted in the meeting. The chief minister said that club culture has changed a lot in the State. He requested everyone not to force Puja donations by maintaining this keeping in mind the flood situation in the State. He also advised the security of the administration to strengthen security in the city during Puja. The chief minister also said that the arrangements made by the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Dashamighat are unprecedented. The Chief Minister advised the officials of the Public Works Department to repair the roads damaged by heavy rains before Puja.
Addressing the meeting Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder said that from this year 12 new Dashamighat are being built based on area in Agartala city. The service of Dashamighat at Battala is being further enhanced. The road leading to this Dashamighat has been widened by 8 meters. Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Dr. P.K Chakraborty said that the club authorities should follow all the guidelines for organizing puja.

He said the 47 clubs participated in the event and 39 last year. He further said that the interested clubs should register online or offline by October 7, 2024 to participate in the Maayer Gaman event.
Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Bishal Kumar, senior police officers, representatives of different clubs of Agartala city were present in the meeting.
