Agartala, Tripura, 24th of September, 2024 : In a press conference held at the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) yesterday, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte announced that GBP Hospital is now providing dialysis services from 80 to 100 patients daily. The dialysis process at the hospital is being conducted using the AIIMS method, ensuring high-quality care for kidney patients.
The Secretary highlighted that an expert team from AIIMS will be invited to inspect the dialysis facilities on-site to ensure that the hospital continues to meet national standards. Gitte stated that from 1st August outsourced staffs were given responsibilities to perform dialysis. At the starting of the process some discrepancies were noticed but later on it had been resolved. Normally single machines can handle dialysis of 5 to 6 persons but as previously only 1 patient was allocated for 1 machine so instructions have been given to the staffs to do likewise. The outsourcing authority responsible for the dialysis services has been instructed to maintain high standards of care.In the past two months alone, more than 5,000 patients have benefited from free dialysis services at the hospital, with most patients expressing satisfaction. “Dialysis in private hospitals is costly, but here at GBP, we are providing it completely free of charge,” the Secretary emphasized. The hospital is actively seeking patient feedback to improve services further, and the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, has directed that no kidney patient should face difficulties accessing dialysis.
The press conference was attended by key medical personnel, including AGMC Principal Dr. Anup Saha, GBP Hospital Superintendent Dr. Sankar Chakraborty, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, and Professor of Microbiology Dr. Tapan Majumdar.
