Khowai, Tripura, 18th of August, 2024 : A Cow died due to negligence of the Khowai electricity department at West Sonatala under Khowai Police Station on Sunday (18th August, 2024). According to the information received, Prabir Deb, a poor farmer by profession, a resident of Ward No. 5, Jamira, West Sonatala under Khowai Police Station , S/O- Lt. Chandan Deb. He left his house to graze the cows as usual at six o’clock on Sunday morning and left for the field. After going some distance, when he came in front of an electric pole on the side of the road, as a result of the short-circuit, the cow in his hand gradually moved in front of the electric pole. His beloved cow died before his eyes.

When he goes to save the cow, he is also electrocuted. He said that his family used to earn by selling the milk of this cow. The cow dies due to electrocution and she has no end of thoughts about how to support her family. Prabir alleged that even after repeatedly calling the Khowai Electricity Department, no one answered the phone immediately after the incident. He alleges that if the power department had received the call on time and the staff of the department had come running, then the cow could have been saved.

Later, when the matter was reported to the Khowai police station, according to the instructions of the police station, the workers of the electricity department came and severed the line from the electricity pole. Prabir alleged that cow died two to three hours after the incident. Later, the local residents came together and protested against the power plant.

Their complaint is that in Jamira area under West Sonatala village Panchayat, every pole is standing in a dangerous condition due to old age and rust. A pole can fall at any time and a major accident can occur. But even though Khowai repeatedly reported the incident to the electricity department, no one from the electricity department paid attention to the matter.

As a result, this accident happened today. Due to the eccentric attitude of the power department, there will be more accidents in the coming days! It doesn’t wait to be told. Therefore, the power corporation should look into this issue very quickly.
