Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates Garia & Barsha Baran Utsav 2025.

Agartala, Tripura, 21st of April 2025 : With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Tribal Welfare Department Government of Tripura two-day Garia & Barsha Baran Utsav 2025 organized in collaboration with the West Tripura Zilla Parishad, Agartala Municipal Corporation in Swami Vivekananda Stadium, Agartala, Tripura on (21st April, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated Garia & Barsha Baran Utsav 2025 by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Garia & Barsha Baran Utsav 2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Garia festival is one of the traditional festivals of the tribal community of the state. Through this festival, unity is created in the state. The Chief Minister said that although there are differences in customs and rituals among the Tribals in the state, there is always unity between both the communities. It will be possible to take the state forward in the direction of development by building on this unity. The Chief Minister also added that that the Information and Culture Department is working year-round to restore the lost culture of the state. Along with this, initiatives have also been taken through the Information and Culture Department to revive the art of Jatra, drama, puppet dance, etc. The Chief Minister wished the people of the state happiness and prosperity on the occasion of Garia Puja.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were, Special Secretary of the Information and Culture Department, Debapriya Bardhan, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil,  Megha Jain (IAS), ADM & Collector, West Tripura District and many other dignitaries were present in the distribution ceremony. Artists presented attractive cultural programmes like dance, song, to beautify the ceremony.
