Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates  51st State Level Bizu Mela.

Dhalai, Tripura, 13th of April 2025 : With the initiative of Bizu Mela committee organized five-day 51st State Level Bizu Mela at Laxmindar Para, Chawmanu, LTV, Dhalai Tripura on Sunday (13th April, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated 51st State Level Bizu Mela.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of 51st State Level Bizu Mela,  Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the Central and State Governments are committed to the overall development of the tribal communities. The Government is also serious about preserving the culture and traditions of the tribal communities. The main goal of the government is to take the state forward in the direction of development through the unity of the tribal communities.

“The Chakma community is one of the 19 communities in the state. This community has its own script. The Chief Minister assured that more steps will be taken to promote and spread the Chakma language in the coming days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the people of the Chakma community of the country on the occasion of Biju Mela today. For this, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of all the people of the state.”, Chief Minister added.

“A long-term project has been taken up for the socio-economic development of the tribal communities of the State through agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries with the funding of the World Bank. Through this, about Rs 1,400 crore will be spent for communication, economic and overall development in the tribal-dominated blocks. The Central Government has already approved a special package of Rs 100 crore for the development of the tribals. Out of which Rs 80 crore has been received. Under the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojna (PMAAGY), Rs 20 lakh 38 thousand will be provided per village for the development of 375 tribal-dominated villages. The Chief Minister said that various projects have been taken up for the development of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Councils.”, Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister also added that the previous government, the Maharajas of the state were not given the due respect. The current Government has changed the name of Agartala Airport to Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. A government holiday has been declared on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram. The holiday for Gariya Puja has been extended. Moreover, coaching has been arranged for the welfare of the tribal youth community for the preparation of various competitive exams. Stipends and scholarships are being given to eligible tribal students. Initiatives like provision of hostels for tribal students in three government colleges of the state, establishment of 21 Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in different parts of the state have been taken. Free textbooks are being provided to tribal students studying in class 9 or above, and merit awards are being given to meritorious students.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home), OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma , MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya,  President of Bizu Mela Development committee Sujoy Kumar Chakma, Dhalai District Magistrate & Collector, Saju Vaheed  and many other dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony.
