Agartala, Tripura, 14th of March 2025 : With the initiative of Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Tripura Distribution of Scooty under “Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana” has been organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Friday (14th March, 2025).

The scheme “Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana” was launched by the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Tripura. The meritorious girls studying in the 1st semester of a course in the General Degree Colleges in Tripura are provided with a free Scooty for travelling to their College.
Addressing at the Distribution of Scooty under MKAY scheme programme, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the State Government has given special importance to the development of infrastructure of higher educational institutions. Along with the improved institutional environment, the Government’s efforts are continuing to provide quality education to students. Since 2018, the Government’s initiatives like Super 30, Lakshya, CM Saath etc. have been motivating students to pursue higher education for the development of the State’s education sector. In addition, the gross enrollment ratio has increased due to the waiver of various fees including admission of female students in government degree colleges.

“Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana is a visionary initiative of the Government for women empowerment. As a result, more interest will be given to girls in higher education. This year, 140 meritorious students will be given leave under this scheme. The Chief Minister said that under the Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana, a leave will be given to every eligible student along with insurance and registration. The student must have secured a minimum of 80 percent marks in the higher secondary examination conducted by TBSE or CBSE. The annual income of the applicant’s family should be within a maximum of Rs 8 lakh and the applicant must have a permanent residence certificate”, Chief Minister added.

“The new National Education Policy has been implemented in Tripura colleges from 2023-24. So far, 10 people have been given financial assistance under the ‘Lakshya’ project. IIIT, National Forensic Science University have been launched in Agartala and a drone center has been set up at TIT. Out of 25 general degree colleges, 22 colleges have been recognized by NAAC. Sachin Deb Barman Memorial Govt Music College is also recognized by NAAC. Work has started on the construction of a 50-bed hostel for female students at the Government College in Gandachhara”, Chief Minister also added today.

On this auspicious occasion of Distribution of Scooty under “Mukhyamantri Konya Atmonirbhor Yojana” scheme Director of Higher Education Department Tripura, Animesh Debbarma delivered the welcome speech. At the event, the Chief Minister handed over the keys to the students of various colleges of the State and the helmets provided by the Transport Department. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Raval Hamendra Kumar, Special Secretary, Education (School) Department, students of various college, may other dignitaries were present in the events.
