Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) Organized  Awareness campaign on Swachhta Abhiyan, Drug-free India held at Narsinghgarh.

Agartala, Tripura, 30th of January, 2025 : An awareness campaign was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, at Narsinghgarh area, in Bamutia Block under West Tripura on Thursday. This campaign, aimed at building awareness among the local community included multiple activities such as the cleanliness drive under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’, tree plantation drive under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, and seminar and interactive session on the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’.

In the program, Shri Amitabh Bhattacharya, Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bamutia, RD block, in his address during the seminar, highlighted the importance of community participation for a cleaner, greener and healthy India. He emphasized that the villages which are dedicated to cleanliness drive on daily basis, the rate of incidences of various diseases like diarrhoea and typhoid significantly are reduced.

The event also featured a discussion on the importance of tree plantation under the fold of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative, which encourages individuals to plant trees as a tribute to their mothers. The speakers stressed on the importance of protection and conservation of nature and bio diversity through tree plantation given the challenges coming from climate change and global warming. Dr. Anwesha Bhattacharjee, the Medical Officer of Narsinghgarh PHC, deliberated on danger of drug trafficking and various health challenges out of drug addiction. She appealed to people to join the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan as a movement.

Amongst others, Shri Sujit Baran Paul, Welfare Supervisor, Bamutia, Shri Anjan Debnath from Narsinghgarh PHC, Shri Biplab Debnath, Pradhan of Narsinghgarh Gram Panchayat were present in the program.

A quiz competition on these themes was also organized. The local community actively participated in the event, with many highlighting that such initiatives reignite a sense of awareness among the people. They suggested that similar programs should be conducted in every village across the state.
