Agartala, Tripura, 3rd of November, 2026 : In a significant initiative towards promoting affordable healthcare and strengthening outreach to border communities, Smt. Princee Rani, IPS, Inspector General, BSF Tripura Frontier, inaugurated a Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) at Fatikchera, West Tripura, on 2 November 2026. The inauguration was attended by senior BSF officers, medical officers from BSF and civil hospitals, and representatives of the border population.
The Kendra has been established through a tripartite agreement among the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), SWADHIN Trust and BSF.

The Jan Aushadhi initiative, under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Government of India, aims to provide quality generic medicines at affordable prices, reducing the out-of-pocket healthcare expenses of citizens.
Jan Aushadhi Kendras offer medicines at approximately 50โ90% lower prices than comparable branded medicines. All medicines undergo prescribed quality testing at NABL-accredited laboratories and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The outlets also provide medicines for chronic ailments, surgical products, nutraceuticals and Suvidha Sanitary Napkins at just โน1 per pad.

The Fatikchera Kendra is specifically aimed at providing affordable medicines to serving and retired BSF personnel, their families and the civilian population of border areas. Strategically located at the entrance of the BSF campus, it will facilitate easy access for residents of neighbouring border villages.
This initiative is part of BSF Tripura Frontier’s Border Outreach Programme, through which several welfare activities are undertaken for people residing in remote and inaccessible areas. These include state-level football and volleyball tournaments, marathons, blood donation and medical camps, distribution of sports equipment and educational stationery, skill development programmes and preparation of Tripura’s youth for recruitment into Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).

Through such initiatives, BSF Tripura Frontier remains committed not only to safeguarding the nation’s borders but also to promoting healthcare, community welfare, youth empowerment and inclusive development in border areas.
