Bengaluru, Karnataka, 17th of April 2025 : When a woman’s fallopian tube is filled with some kind of fluid, then such a condition is called hydrosalpinx in medical science. In case of hydrosalpinx, the woman’s tube gets swollen. This swelling can cause infertility in women. This swelling can occur anywhere in either of the two parts of the tube. In most cases, it is like the ovary, but sometimes this blockage can also be seen towards the uterus i.e. at the end of the tube. When the fallopian tube gets swollen, fertilization does not take place and the woman is unable to become a mother.
Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Director and Gynecologist of Asha Ayurveda, explains that hydrosalpinx is a condition when a woman’s fallopian tube is filled with water and due to that the tube gets swollen. This can happen due to many reasons such as vaginal infection, pelvic infection, diseases like tuberculosis, etc. which affect your tube.
What are the symptoms of hydrosalpinx?
Infertility is the biggest symptom of hydrosalpinx, due to which women have to face difficulty in becoming mothers. There is pain in the lower abdomen and this pain increases and becomes intense during periods. There is a constant abnormal discharge from the vagina. Such women may feel unbearable pain during sex. Their periods may become irregular.
How to check hydrosalpinx?
Ultrasound: If you feel any of these symptoms, do not ignore it, but contact the nearest gynecologist soon and get an ultrasound done on their advice to diagnose the disease correctly.
HSG: HSG is a test which is considered to be the most accurate for hydrosalpinx.
How to treat hydrosalpinx?
For the treatment of hydrosalpinx, you can choose Ayurveda instead of allopathy because it has no side effects. There is no surgery of any kind in this, but hydrosalpinx is treated only with Ayurvedic medicines, after which you can conceive naturally.
