Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of April 2025 : The issue of forming the Eighth Pay Commission is under consideration of the State Government. A decision in this regard will be taken at an appropriate time. Hon’ble Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy gave this information in response to a question from MLA Gopal Chandra Roy during the Question and Answer Session in the Assembly Budget Session 2025-26 on the 7th day at Tripura Legislative Assembly, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (1st April, 2025).

The Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy also added that on January 16 this year, the Central Government announced the proposal to form the Eighth Pay Commission. Till now, no state in India has taken a final decision on the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. The Tripura Government will also take a decision on this at an appropriate time. In response to a question from MLA Sudip Roy Barman, he said that everything has been informed about the financial situation of the State to the Sixteenth Finance Commission. He said that dearness allowance is being paid regularly to the state government employees and pensioners. The state government is making efforts to gradually reduce the gap between the Centre and the state government employees in the payment of dearness allowance.
