Assembly Budget 2025-26, 6th Day : Tripura To Become Self-Sufficient In Potato Seed Production By 2028-29 Fiscal Year : Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

Agartala, Tripura, 28th of March 2025 : Tripura will become self-sufficient in potato seed production by the financial year 2028-29, said Hon’ble Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The attention of the members of the assembly on the 6th day at Tripura Legislative Assembly, Agartala, Tripura regarding the potatoes produced by the state’s farmers, he said that Tripura has already shown great success in rice seed production.

The farmers of the state are now impressing everyone by producing potatoes from high-quality seeds. The Agriculture Minister said that an average of 6,000 kg of potatoes are being produced using a high-quality seed called ARC Potato. The Agriculture Minister said that the potatoes are much larger in size than normal potatoes. In some cases, the weight of two potatoes is over 1 kg. The Agriculture Minister today handed over a packet of potatoes produced by the state’s farmers to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
