Manipur, 12th of June, 2024 : Assam Rifles strongly refutes the baseless allegations leveled by Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) stating that ‘Assam Rifles followed the modus operandi (adopted by them in Serou and Moreh) wherein after evacuating all residents, they allowed Kuki militants to burn down Meitei houses in Jiribam’.
Further COCOMI in their statement also alleged Assam Rifles barring additional state forces sent from Imphal.
It is stated that Assam Rifles has consistently upheld impartiality and diligently protected all civilians without bias. Rescue of civilians trapped in a house burnt by unknown miscreants in Leisabithol village and safe evacuation to Internally Displaced Personnel (IDP) camp in Jiribam has been witnessed by locals and widely published in media.
It is also reiterated that Assam Rifles has actively coordinated with all security forces to ensure the safety of all residents and early return of normalcy through comprehensive measures.
Assam Rifles remains steadfast in their mission to restore and maintain stability in Jiribam and continue its unwavering efforts to protect all citizens. Media houses are requested verify news before publishing, as inaccurate news may have the potential to create unrest in the state.
