Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, Hosts The Third Edition Of Its Annual Science Expo.

Bengaluru, 19th February, 2025: The third edition of PRAKALP’25, the annual science expo at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bengaluru, saw participation from over 250 students across 13 colleges and drew an audience of 1,000 students. The event provided a platform for students to share their projects and engage in discussions about scientific and technological innovations.

In line with the theme for National Science Day 2025, “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” the expo focused on sustainability, a topic that was significant to both Amrita students and participants from other colleges. Many of the projects showcased advancements in IoT, Robotics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, reflecting the students’ efforts to stay current with technological developments.

The Science Expo featured 31 hardware projects and 34 software projects.

Along with the projects, there were several interactive activities aimed at engaging the students. Tales of Space demonstrated the workings of a spin launch and explained concepts such as centrifugal catapult dynamics and astro-ballistic propulsion. The Idea and Innovate competition encouraged students to pitch their ideas on the spot, focusing on creativity and quick thinking. The Tech Carnival involved eight tech games, challenging students in areas like coding, strategy, and problem-solving. Other activities included Pixel Pulse, a photo booth with a sci-fi theme, and the Science Showdown, a board game that combined trivia and strategy. There was also a mini art exhibition, showcasing paintings and crochet work, including the Gita Collection, a series of artistic representations inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. The Buzzer Maze tested participants’ ability to maintain precision and patience while navigating a challenging path.

A special session was held with Dangeti Srinivasa Rao, Senior Director of Aerospace Engineering at Honeywell India, who shared his thoughts on the future of aviation and advanced air mobility. His talk focused on aviation control systems, automation, and the transition to renewable energy in the aerospace industry. The session concluded with a Q&A, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in further discussion.

The event wrapped up with the announcement of winners in both the hardware and software categories.

Industry professionals from Honeywell and Pi Semiconductors were invited to evaluate the projects and offer their insights. Pi Semiconductors presented a special award for the Best Innovative Project to Team I/O from RV College of Engineering for their project, SCRUB.

In the hardware category, Team JASN from MVJ College of Engineering took first place with their project, ARIA, an autonomous robot. TechTitans from Alliance University came in second with their wearable smart posture detection and alert system, while Team Kanyarasi from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham earned third place for their IoT-based hanging detection and response system.

In the software category, Cyber Swaraksha from Presidency University secured first place, and Team SynBiox from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham took second place for their work on drug discovery for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

PRAKALP’25 successfully provided a space for students to showcase their projects, share ideas, and learn from industry professionals, all while focusing on sustainability and the ever-growing fields of IoT, AI, and Robotics.
