Agartala, Tripura, 15th of April 2025 : The State level Ambedkar Jayanti was observed on Monday (14th April, 2025) through different programs. The 14th April marks the birthday of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar one of the most prominent social reformers of India.With the initiative of SC Welfare Department Government of Tripura, the main programme of State level Ambedkar Jayanti was organized at Ujjayanta Palace (Tripura State Museum), Agartala. Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das address teachers, students among others paid tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his Birth Anniversary.
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar. He chaired the Indian Constitution’s drafting committee. He is best known for his work as the creator of the Indian Constitution. He was a jurist, politician, economist, and social reformer in India.
Addressing at the Birth Anniversary Of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s 135 Birth Anniversary Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the present government of the state is working following the ideals of the framer of the constitution and BR Ambedkar. Various steps are being taken for the overall welfare of the backward communities based on his ideals. Dr. Ambedkar was a scholar, philosopher, economist, social reformer and freedom fighter. He gave us the best constitution in the world. The way he worked and fought for the oppressed people still inspires everyone. He was acceptable to everyone for his education, intellect and eloquence.
“Growing up in a hostile environment, he fought against hatred and prejudice all his life. His fight is still remembered with respect by everyone. As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in 2023, a reborn statue of Dr. BR Ambedkar has been installed in front of the Assembly building. Various scholarships including Pre-matric, Post-matric scholarships are being provided to the children of Scheduled Castes so that they can get good education.”, Chief Minister added.
Addressing at the event Hon’ble SC Welfare, Minister Sudhangshu Das said that Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar wanted to build a new India, where there would be no untouchability, hatred and discrimination. Justice and equality would prevail everywhere. The current Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the initiative to implement the thoughts of Dr. BR Ambedkar. During this time, Ram Nath Kovind, a representative of the backward classes, and Droupadi Murmu, a representative of the tribal community, have been elected as the President. The SC Minister advised the students to follow the ideals of Dr. B.R Ambedkar and move forward.
On this auspicious occasion of Secretary, Scheduled Caste (S.C) Welfare Department Government of Tripura delivered the welcome speech. The event was presided over by West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil. Artists presented attractive cultural programmes like song, music to beautify the ceremony.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Director of Scheduled Caste (S.C) Welfare Department Government of Tripura Jayanta Dey, Director Social Welfare & Social Education Department Government of Tripura Tapan Kumar Das, MLA Kishor Barman and many other dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.
