Agartala, Tripura, 17th of March, 2025: With the initiative of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited has been conducted Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Camp at Ranirgaon HS School, Jirania on Monday (17th March, 2025). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath has inaugurated a mega camp, to generate more awareness and registration under PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

Addressing at the inauguration ceremony of PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Camp Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the ‘Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Camp’ will help in saving electricity and increasing one’s own family income. He urged everyone to take advantage of this scheme and said that the main objective of this scheme is to enable residential families to generate their own electricity using the roof of their houses. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on February 13, 2024 for the benefit of every electricity consumer in the country.

“Government subsidies are being given for the installation of this plant according to the capacity of the solar panel. A subsidy of up to ₹ 85,800 will be given for a three kW solar plant. In addition, residential electricity consumers will be given a subsidy of ₹ 33,000 if they spend ₹ 65,000 for a 1 kW solar plant. A subsidy of ₹ 66,000 will be given for a 2 kW solar plant if they spend ₹ 130,000. About 100 units of electricity are generated every month from a 1 kW solar plant. This not only saves electricity in one’s own home, but also increases one’s own income by selling excess electricity. This plant can be installed anywhere, such as the roof of the house, the yard, or the tin roof. The lifespan of a plant is about 25 years.”, Power minister added.

The Power minister also added that camps are being organized in various parts of the State to encourage the people of our state along with the entire country to take advantage of this scheme. He said that a target of installing 50,000 solar panels has been set in the state in the current financial year. The work of installing 12,800 solar plants has already been completed.

Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Camp today. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Chairperson of Jirania Nagar Panchayat Ratan Kumar Das, Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath, West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, Social activist Gauranga Bhowmik and many others remained present in the event.
