Enormous Tree Plantation Drive By ICFAI.

Agartala, 17th of July, 2024 : The ICFAI University Tripura’ is celebrating its 20 years of excellence in providing professional education since establishment of the University in a befitting manner throughout the year 2024-25. As a part of celebration, the University organized a tree plantation drive beside the newly constructed 108B National Highway between Lembucherra to Fatickcherra on 16^th July, 2024.

The main objectives behind this enormous Plantation Drive are to improve real life sustainability, combat with climate change, protect ecosystem, protecting soil erosions, boosting biodiversity, giving shelters to the habitat and many more environmental  sustainability.  This plantation drive creates a sense of long-term environmental stewardship by emphasizing that tree planting is not a one-time event but part of an ongoing commitment to ecological sustainability.

The program started with an inaugural programme where Prof.(Dr.) Biplab Halder, the Vice Chancellor of the University presided over the programme. Dr. Avinash M. Kanfade, IFS , the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of Forest Force, Tripura was the Chief Guest, Shri Subash Datta, Sub-divisional Magistrate, Mohanpur was the Special Guest and Shri Subrata Paul, Range Officer, Urban Forestry Range, Salbagan was the Guest of Honour respectively for the Program. While addressing the welcome speech, Dr. Halder explained about the contribution of this University for developing educational excellence in Tripura since last 20 years.

Shri Subash Datta  in his speech explained about the growth of the ICFAI University as he  witnesed during last few year. Giving explanation of journey of the last two decades of the university, he compared the first 10 years journey was like Tortoise, next 10 years as Chitah and he added that he wish to see ICFAI during the upcoming 2030 as TEJAS and by 2050 it may become Citah  to Rocket.

The Chief Guest Dr. Kanfade explained with live examples about the ill effect of deforestation, global warming and green house effect and he praised about the various  social activity extended by the ICFAI University Tripura for the welfare of the Society. After the inaugural programme, all the dignitaries, Faculty Members, Staff, Students and all stakeholder of the University proceeded for the formal tree plantation drive. Around 1000 saplings were planted on that day besides both side of the 108B National Highway between Lembucherra to Fatickcherra. The program ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. A Ranganath , Registrar of the University and he expressed his heartiest thanks to all concerned for successful completion of the program.
