Celebrations Of Tripura Police Week 2024.

Agartala, 17th of January 2024 : Celebrated of Tripura Police Week 2024 at Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium, A.D. Nagar, Agartala on Wednesday (17th January, 2024). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha attended the Tripura Police Week celebration ceremony.

“The Tripura Police is performing its duty sensitively in the protection of the people as well as maintaining peace and order in the State. The success achieved by the Tripura Police in improving law and order in the State has been appreciated across the country. We also feel proud of this success of the State Police.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said at the celebration ceremony of  Tripura Police Week today. The Chief Minister said that our state presently ranks third among the 28 states in terms of the lowest crime rate. Tripura has 110 crimes per lakh population, as against the national average of 422. The previous year, Tripura was ranked fifth. Tripura ranks eighth lowest among 28 states in terms of physical assault related offenses. In this regard, the crime rate in Tripura is 43.8 per lakh population, while the national average is 84. The previous year, Tripura was ranked 10th. Tripura ranked lowest among the 28 states in terms of property crimes. 11.9 crimes were recorded per lakh population. The national average is 20.8. The previous year Tripura was ranked 3rd lowest.

On the occasion, Chief Minister said that Tripura ranks eighth lowest among 28 states in terms of crimes against women. Tripura has 37 crimes against women per lakh population. Whereas the national average is 66 incidents. In this regard Tripura was ranked 9th in the previous year. Chief Minister said strict action is being taken against crimes related to women. Help desks have been opened in every police station to create a suitable environment for women. Which is open 24 hours. Moreover, the government has launched 1091 helpline to ensure the safety of women. Two more new women’s police stations have been opened in the state. The total number of women’s police stations in the state is 9. At least 1 women police station has been established in all the districts of the state. Tripura has been the only state to have women police stations in every district.

The Chief Minister also added  that the number of police stations in the state has been increased from 81 to 101 in the last 5 years. Out of 101 Police Stations 87 are currently operational and remaining 14 Police Stations will be inaugurated soon. Out of 5 new GRPS, Belonia GRPS has been inaugurated. The remaining 4 GRPSs, Sabroom, Udaipur, Bishalgarh and Bishramganj will be commissioned soon. Various police stations, including some police officers who have achieved success in various fields in the past year, have been felicitated during Police Week celebrations. The Chief Minister handed over awards to them.

Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, Tripura Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, senior police officers, and other dignitaries were present in the programme.
