With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura has been celebrated National Press Day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala on Wednesday (16th November, 2022).
“The Press Media is the mirror of society. Media has a special place in society. Media plays a leading role in moving the country forward”, said Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at Celebration of National Press Day. The Chief Minister also said, the Government has already taken various initiatives to solve various problems of the media.
Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble minister Information & Cultural Affairs, Sports, PWD (DWS) said, the State Government is working on how to keep the newspapers and journalists better and strengthen their social and economic base. ICA minister also said, initiatives have been taken to bring journalists under health insurance.
Senior Journalist Shekhar Dutta and Swapan Kumar Bhattacharjee were felicitated for their special contribution. They were welcomed with souvenirs and five thousand rupees were given to them at the National Press Day.
Dr. P. K. Chakraborty, Secretary ICA delivered the welcome speech on the occasion. Ratan Biswas, Director of ICA Department, Secretary of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar, Vice President of Agartala Press Club Arun Nath and other dignitaries were present at the programme.
