With the joint initiative of Tripuri Doctors Welfare Society & Civil Society of Ampi Indigenous Day of the world’s Indigenous Peoples programme has been celebrated here in Ampinagar community hall in Gomati Tripura today (9th August, 2022). In the presence of many dignitaries the Ampi MDC Sadagar Kalai has inaugurated this splendid programme. To celebrate this programme a large number of Indigenous people from different parts of Ampi block have assembled here in the programme venue.
As per the reports, International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples has immense importance and significance for the indigenous people of the world. Aiming to attain safe and secured existence for the Indigenous people in the world this day has great significance for all Indigenous communities. The Indigenous people of the world has raised voice to protect their Indigenous communities communal heritage, language, culture, costume and religious faith. They are prompt to protect the traditional natural resources and indigenous territories and champion the rights for indigenous peoples across the globe. Indigenous women, however, are poorly represented worldwide and continue to face various discrimination and violence but they are advancing step by step.
The indigenous TIPRA Motha leaders have delivered important speeches to create awareness amidst present indigenous participants in the programme over the significance of this world indigenous day celebration. Among the distinguished participants there were Dr. Kahamnuk Jamatia, Dr. Asish Debbarma, Ampi sub-zonal chairman Deb Sadhan Jamatia, zonal chairman Surjyabasi Molsom, social worker David Murasing, Amarpur 42 constituency observer Janakhari Jamatia and many others remained present in the programme.
