A symposium on ” Soft measures for flood and erosion control“ held at virtual conference Hall of Civil Engineering Department in NIT, Agartala on Tuesday (26th July, 2022). Brahmaputra Board under the Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with Civil Engineering Deptt., NIT, Agartala has organized the Symposium to mark the occasion of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at @ 75″. Brahmaputra Board has planned to organize symposium, Workshop and seminars in 10 locations in N.E. region on various Water Resources subjects by 14th August, 2022 and the symposium on Soft measures is the part of the plan.
Earlier, dignitaries were welcomed and felicited by the Executive Engineer, Soumitra. Kr. Deb giving them a flower bouquet and ‘Uttariya’ while the Symposium was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Prof. (Dr.) Ratul Das, Prof. (Dr.) Ajoy Chakraborty, Dean (P&D), Dipankar Sarkar, Associate Professor & Head, Civil Engineering. NIT Agartala, Sudhan Debbarma, S.E. WRD, Govt. of Tripura, and Nepolin Kharjana, Dy. Chief Engineer, Brahmaputra Board. The keynote address was given by Nepolin Kharjana, Dy. Chief. Engineer, of Regional Office, TRIPURA of the Brahmaputra Board. Invitee experts and seminar officer of W.R. Deptt. Govt. of Tripura Sudhan Debbarma, S.E presented his paper on bio-engineering aspects. The chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Ajoy Chakraborty, Dean (P&D), NIT, Agartala in his inaugural speech urged human society to preserve natural gifts and work for any execution without hampering the nature.
On the occasion, Dr. Dipankar Sarkar, Associate Prof & Head, Civil Engineering Department, NIT, Agartala has also presented his valuable thoughts on the issues of soft measures. The brain storming session after the tea break was more valuable, informative and perspective. The expert Prof (Dr.) Ratul Das, Civil Engineering Department, NIT, Agartala, presented a PPT and explained new thoughts on soft Measures.
From the student fraternity Tanmoy Majumder, PhD Scholar, Civil Engineering Dept. NIT, Agartala has presented his topic on bio-engineering with special reference to Barak Basin.
In an interaction session more questions and suggestions put on by educationists, students and faculty members while possible answers were given by experts.
In summarized the program it was noted that, soft measures is recently developed in bio-engineering field and innovative thoughts has been put on different forum.
Vote of thanks was tendered by host Soumitra Kr. Deb, Executive Engineer, Agartala Division, Brahmaputra Board while the program was conducted by Soumi Choudhury and Mohan Koirala.
