2-Days Annual Training Program Of Internal Complaints Committee Of LPAI Members’ Begins At Agartala ICP.

Agartala,Tripura, 18th of September, 2024 : The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), Department of Border Management, Ministry of Home Affairs is conducting a two-days program on “Enhancing Awareness and Action: Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) Members Annual Training,”on 18-19 September 2024 at its Training Centre in Land Port Agartala. LPAI’s Training Centre was inaugurated by Shri Aditya Mishra, Chairman LPAI on 12th June 2024. The state-of-the-art residential training facility features modern classrooms, a breakout room, a staff room, a dining area, and 16 well-furnished guest rooms for accommodation.

The ICC training program is part of LPAI’s Gender Mainstreaming initiative, aligned with Chairman’s vision to make India’s Land Ports gender-friendly, neutral, and inclusive within the next three years.

Shri Siddhartha Shankar Dey, Advocate General of Tripura, served as the Chief Guest for the event. Shri Gitte KirankumarDinkarrao, Secretary of Industries and Commerce and Shri IpperManchakDnyanoba, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Southern/Northern Range, Tripura were the esteemed Guests of Honour during the inaugural session.

In her welcome address, Dr. Rekha Raikar Kumar, Member (Finance) and ICC Chairperson, emphasized the crucial role of the Internal Complaints Committee in cultivating a respectful workplace culture. She outlined LPAI’s broader commitment to gender inclusivity and safety, detailing the various activities and measures undertaken, including infrastructure creation, safety initiatives, and institutional mainstreaming, all aimed at ensuring that every employee feels valued and supported.

During his address as Chief Guest, Shri Siddhartha Shankar Dey emphasized the natural presence of genders in every creation and discussed the legal frameworks and redressal mechanisms essential for promoting gender equality. He highlighted the importance of understanding and embracing this concept, stressing that societal change is crucial in achieving true equality. Shri Dey advocated for proactive measures to combat gender inequality, noting that awareness and action are vital in this endeavour. He applauded the efforts of LPAI in championing gender equality, recognizing their commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

During the event, LPAI launched a comprehensive workbook on “Enhancing Awareness and Action of ICC Members” which would serve as a vital resource for members to enhance their effectiveness in handling complaints and promoting a culture of respect and safety.

The event featured a series of engaging sessions designed to equip ICC members with essential knowledge and skills. These included Gender Responsiveness and Inclusivity, Understanding the POSH Act, Interactive Group Discussions, Port-Specific Concerns in Gender Equality: An Interactive Discussion Among ICC Members and Effective Handling and Redressal of Workplace Harassment Complaints: Balancing Confidentiality, Neutrality, and Due Process.

Eminent speakers included Dr. Anjana Bhattacharjee, Professor, Tripura University, Ms. Asmita Banik, Ld. Additional Standing Government Counsel & Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee Agartala, Dr.Nabarun Bhattacharjee, Associate Professor, ICFAI University, Ms. Jharna Debbarma, Chairperson, Women’s Commission, Tripura, Shri. Ashutosh Pandey, Director, Tripura Judicial Academy, Ms. Swapna Debnath, Addl. Director, Industries & Commerce, Government of Tripura, Prof (Dr.) Ranjan Das, Director, All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, Institute of Serology and Dr. Shubhrabaran Das, Professor & HOD of Economic, Tripura University.The event was attended by over 40 participants from Land Ports all over India. This event was also joined by several participants through YouTube Live Streaming.
