1st Virtual E-Convocation Of IIIT Agartala.

The 1st Virtual E-Convocation of IIIT Agartala was held on Wednesday, 21st September 2022 (12.05 p.m. onwards)

Ratan Lal Nath, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Govt. of Tripura is the Chief Guest of the function and has delivered the Convocation Address.

In this convocation, 14 B.Tech Students in Computer Science and Engineering have got their degrees. In this function, the Institute handed out gold medal to one student, Shaona Kundu (18UICS010), B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering.

The IIIT Agartala was established in the year 2018 by Govt. of India with the mission to herald a new chapter of development in the country, particularly in the North-Eastem states, through pursuit of excellence in technical education and research particularly in the field of Information Technology. It was established as a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) Model in accordance with the IIIT Act passed by the MHRD in 2017. ONGC and NEEPCO are the private partners apart from Govt. of India and Govt. of Tripura The IIIT Agartala has been conferred with the ‘Institute of National Importance‘ by the Hon’ble Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

The academic session of IIIT Agartala was commenced in 2018-19 from its temporary campus at NIT Agartala As of today, IIIT Agartala offers B.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering. The students in the UG programme are being admitted through JEE (main) Examination and JoSAA/CSAB.

The Institute is currently under the mentorship of the NIT Agartala and is functioning from its campus since 2018. IIIT Agartala shares/uses the infrastructure, faculties, laboratories and curriculum of NIT Agartala.

Centre for Career Development (CCD). NIT Agartala arranges internships and placement for IIIT Agartala students and conducts many online workshops, webinars, mock training / mock interview through online mode/virtual mode.

The first batch of students passed out in the academic session 2021-22 with a placement record of 100%. Students have received offers from different companies and organizations like TCS Amazon (Berlin), ITC Infotech, Capgemini, Deloitte, Publicis Sapient, Indiamart, Vmware Vassar Labs, Red Hat, Infra market, Branch International, Rapida, Mechlin Software Technology Pvt. Ltd. Indiamart, Upstox and Macro Electrotech Pvt. Lid.

It is also noteworthy that, the average salary of IIIT Agartala students for the Academic Year, 2021-22 is Rs. 22 Lakh per Annum (LPA). Mr. Subham Raj. B.Tech student of IIIT Agartala had bagged an offer from Amazon a Berlin Office as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) with an annual Package of Euro 1.3 lakh (INR 1.15 crores).

Students have undergone internship in various reputed organizations. To name a few, Google, Hire Cream (New Delhi), ABV-IIITM (Gwalior), Innovative Knowledge, Software Solution, The Sparks Foundation, Data Sutram (Kolkata). Verzeo (Bengaluru). Stripkart (Jaipur). GoAppti, (Mumbai). Sigma Technologies, Vmware, Upstox, Infra.market, Vassar Labs, Branch International, Rapido and so on.

IIIT Agartala conducts various awareness programs and other activities throughout the year along with NIT Agartala. Some of these are Yoga Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Rashtriya Ekta Divas, National Science Day, Hindi Saptah, Study Connect Program etc.

50.00 acres and has been allotted for IIIT Agartala permanent campus at Khowai Chowmuhani, Mohanpur Sub-Division, West Tripura The Board of Governors has also been constituted. Ten (10) faculty positions are sanctioned for IIIT Agartala. More courses to be offered by the Institute in near future.

Prof. Harish Kumar Sharma, Mentor Director, IIIT Agartala mentioned that the Institute is functioning well in the areas of Academics, Placement Activities and Academics Industry Interface and many more. There is a continuous and constant support from NIT Agartala in motivating and guiding the students of IIIT Agartala. It is to be mentioned that, in spite of pandemic time, the academics and placement activities continued in full swing for NIT and IIIT Agartala students and both the Institutes climbed the ladder in the field of technical education.
