17th Statistics Day Celebrated By Directorate Of Economics & Statistics (DES) Planning (Statistics) Department.

With the initiative of Directorate Of Economics & Statistics (DES) Planning (Statistics) Department Government of Tripura celebrated the 17th Statistics Day at State Guest House, Agartala on Thursday (29th June, 2023).     

17th Statistics Day celebrated nationwide on 29th June 2023 on the theme ‘Alignment of State Indicator Framework with National Indicator Framework for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)’. National Statistics Day is commemorated annually to honor the significant contributions made by Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in the fields of statistics and economic planning. Often hailed as the ‘father of Indian statistics,’ Professor Mahalanobis is renowned for developing the Mahalanobis distance, a statistical measure utilized to determine the disparity between a point and a distribution. Hon’ble Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture, Statistics Minister Bikash Debbarma and officials were present in the celebration programme.
