Another person died in an elephant attack at Teliamura on Sunday (9th July, 2023). The deceased person was identified as 45-year-old Sujit Barman. The incident took place in Malakar slum near North Maharanipur. The house of the deceased youth is Shantinagar area of Teliamura Municipal Council. By evening local people informed Teliamura Fire Service when they saw it lying down. The fire service personnel took him to Teliamura hospital around 8 pm and the doctors declared him dead. Sources said that Sujit, who was attacked by an elephant, went to North Maharanipur with his friend. On the way back from there, he fell in front of the elephant. One of the two escaped from the spot but Sujit failed to save his life. Meanwhile, Hon’ble Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture Minister Bikash Debbarma rushed to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital after receiving the news. The Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Minister have expressed their deepest condolences to the families. The Government assured all kinds of help.
